The Smart Industry Readiness Index is an industrial model developed by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with leading technology companies, academic institutions, and industry experts.

It is defined in three steps: start -> scale -> sustain and consists of three frameworks and two tools.

Everything begins with LEAD – Learn, Evaluate, Architect, Deliver

LEAD is a circular, continuous process of digital transformation, with the initial strategic goal being the completion of the first iteration. It is broadly defined through:

  • Learn (L) – Mastering the key principles, concepts, and technologies of Industry 4.0, and creating a common vocabulary for alignment and understanding throughout the enterprise
  • Evaluate (E) – Evaluate an enterprise’s current level of maturity for Industry 4.0
  • Architect (A) – Developing a comprehensive strategy and defining the implementation path
  • Deliver (D) – Achieving results that contribute to the company’s business, while maintaining the initiative for further transformation

Next comes SIRI, where the Assessment Matrix tool evaluates the current state of your company across 16 dimensions.

Such an assessment quantifies values and conditions, providing you with a clear and detailed insight into the state of the company.

But even if you have all of that, the question remains: how do you actually implement the transformation? Where do you start? What are the priorities? In what order should they be addressed?

This is where the Tier framework comes into play.


What is a Tier frame?

The TIER framework (Today's state, Impact to bottom line, Essential business objectives, References to the broader community framework) connects principles and indicators, allowing you to calculate the value of individual dimensions and select which is the most cost-effective as the first step.
